To consult with HIWFRA’s Monitoring Officer, Audit and Governance Committee, and where appropriate, members, on complaints concerning alleged breaches of the Members’ Code of Conduct, including decisions on investigation and outcomes; to remain contactable during normal working hours; and to attend hearings or meetings as required, some of which may take place during the daytime at

If the answer to these questions is ‘yes’ then you may be suited to the role of Independent Person to HIWFRA.
The Fire Authority currently has one Independent Person in post and is now seeking to appoint another. The successful candidate must demonstrate a high level of personal integrity and a strong commitment to equality, inclusion and diversity,
whilst also having an appreciation of the ethical standards required of persons holding public office. It is important to be able to provide clear thinking, make objective and reasoned judgements, and be impartial.
Please note that you cannot be appointed if you are, or have been within the last 5 years, a Member, Co-opted Member or Officer of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Authority, or if you are a relative or close friend of any such person.
