Salary:                        Level 1 from £40,000 p.a.

Level 2 from £44,000 p.a.

Level 3 from £48,000 p.a.

About Ynni Cymru

Ynni Cymru is a Welsh Government programme that will help shape the future of the energy system in Wales. Predominantly focused on expanding renewables and the development of Smart Local Energy Systems, day to day work will see you being part of a small, friendly and dynamic team that supports project development and delivery across Wales.

While the role is hybrid, candidates must be within commutable distance of the MSPARC offices in North Wales, as regular (weekly) in-person work with clients located in North Wales will be required. Occasional travel to sites Pan Wales, London or regional hubs is also expected, which may require occasional overnight stays.

About the Role

Are you passionate about renewable energy and creating a smarter greener energy future for Wales? Join our Ynni Cymru team to be part of a pioneering Welsh Government programme leading the development of Smart Local Energy Systems and expanding the development of renewable energy projects across Wales.

As a Project Manager, you’ll become an integral part of a small, friendly, and dynamic team supporting the transition to a fairer, more sustainable energy system. You’ll work with clients and partners across Wales, to deliver impactful, local and community-focused projects.

While the role is hybrid, candidates must be within commutable distance of the MSPARC offices in North Wales, as regular (weekly) in-person work with clients located in North Wales will be required. Occasional travel to sites Pan Wales, London or regional hubs is also expected, which may require overnight stay.

What We're Looking For

As Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Supporting the delivery of the programme and projects day-to-day, managing time, cost and quality.

  • Overseeing project governance, ensuring clear stakeholder engagement and delivery of agreed outcomes.

  • Managing milestones, risks, dependencies, budgets and resources using the most suitable methodology.

  • Running workshops and client calls, preparing documentation, and delivering project outcomes to the highest standards.

  • Building trusted relationships with clients, identifying opportunities for innovation and future work.

We’re looking for a motivated and experienced Project Manager who can hit the ground running. You should have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent industry experience.

  • A project management qualification (Agile, PRINCE2, or APM).

  • Proven ability to support public or third sector projects.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • A collaborative, client-focused mindset and an adaptable, flexible approach.

  • Welsh language skills are desirable.

  • Extensive travel across Wales will be required.

  • UK Driving License

We are specifically assessing candidates against the following criteria:

1. Location: North Wales

  • candidates must be within commutable distance of the MSPARC offices in North Wales

  • UK driving licence

2. Multitasking ability and project delivery experience

  • Identification of multiple project workstreams

  • Clear evidence of project delivery roles over a sustained period

  • Description of delivered outcomes, timeframes, budgets, and methodologies (eg Agile, Waterfall, hybrid).

3. Smart energy systems and renewable experience

  • Experience of working within renewable energy systems.

4. . Stakeholder and Client Relationship Management

  • Roles involving client-facing responsibilities, relationship management, or stakeholder engagement.

  • Specific references to senior stakeholder communication or influence. 

5. Strong Communication and Reporting Skills

  • Production of reports, briefings, or presentations with complex or analytical content.

  • Use of language around workshop facilitation, verbal/written communication, or output generation.

6. Education and Project Management Qualifications

  • Degree-level education (or equivalent).

  • Project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM, Agile PM (“nice to have”).

  • Degree level education standard, or hold equivalent vocational qualifications / experience.

  • Sound experience of supporting business process and an understanding of support functions in organisations.

  • Developed analytical and numerate abilities, with the confidence to translate raw data into narrative to provide information and insight.

  • Excellent communication, literacy and interpersonal skills to engage and work with colleagues and clients, often at senior levels.

  • Proficient professional level of IT skills required in main MS Office applications, especially Word and Excel and familiar with the use of spreadsheets.

  • Ability to identify required activities and the organisation and self-management to see tasks through to completion.
